Registration and Admission: International Students

What do I have to do to register?

If you have an agent, fill in the application form they provide and have them send it to us. If you would like an agent, let us know and we will be happy to connect you with someone who can assist you. Or contact us directly. Please refer to Admission Information.

What English level must I have to qualify for admission?

In general, you must have a high-intermediate level of English to take programs at Greystone College. Please refer to the chart on our Language Requirement page.

How do I prove my English level?

You may take our online assessment test by invitation or you may provide us with your formal exam results (TOEFL or IELTS). We will also arrange a speaking interview by telephone or in person. If you think your English level is too low to match our entry requirements, don’t worry – you can take the International Language Schools of Canada (ILSC) full language assessment test at no cost and then study English at ILSC before coming to Greystone College. We will let you know how many months of study you will need.

What is the minimum age for students to study at this college?

You must be 18 years of age. There is no maximum age.

Do I need a visa to study in Canada / India?

You may study up to 6 months in Canada with only a visitor’s visa. If you wish to study longer you must apply for a study permit.

Students who plan to study for less than 6 months in India will require a tourist visa. Students who intend to study in India for more than 6 months will require a Study Permit.More details about visas and permits.

How do I get a visa?

After you apply, register and pay for programs at Greystone College, we will issue a Letter of Acceptance that you must take to Canadian officials/Indian Consulate when you apply for a visa or permit. More details about visas and permits.

How do I apply and register?

Do you offer financial assistance?

Please contact us to find out about financial assistance if you are a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.

Am I able to apply for a student loan for your programs?

Yes, provided you are taking a program that is 3 months or longer in duration. Our school code is APEC.

Can GC help me find a job when I graduate?

Yes. We will assist you with updating your resume, job searching, and landing that interview. When you get a job, we look good.

How much does it cost to study at Greystone College?

How much does it cost to live in Vancouver / Toronto / New Delhi?

You can get a good idea of your expected expenses by looking at our accommodation fees.

You need to consider entertainment and travel. A monthly bus pass costs $81 in Vancouver (one zone) $110 (2 zones) (Vancouver Transit Information) A Toronto monthly transit pass is $121. (Toronto Transit Information)

Living in Delhi can be done relatively cheap. Groceries for one week would cost around $25 if you cook yourself. You can eat out at Indian restaurants inexpensively as well and an average meal (without alcohol) would cost you around $8 - $12. There is a very modern shopping mall 10 minutes from the school, but the prices here would be the same as you would find back home. Transportation is very cheap and a metro ticket would cost around 50 cents. You can also take auto-rickshaw very inexpensively as well - a couple dollars for 8 to 10km.

Can I take part of my program in Vancouver / Toronto / New Delhi?

It’s best to complete your program in one location as we have different schedules.

Can I start my Diploma program in any month?

Yes. Our programs are offered in a modular format with continual start dates. All courses are 4 weeks in duration except for the Tourism & Hospitality Management courses in Vancouver which are 3 weeks in duration. Please check the Start dates / calendar page.
Student Population

Who are the students at Greystone College?

At our Canadian campuses, we have 93 % international students (except in the TESOL with TESL Canada program): Korean, Japanese, German, Turkish, Russian, Taiwanese, Mexican, Brazilian, Swiss, French, Italian, and others.

In New Delhi, we have a very diverse student population with over twelve nationalities represented at the school. Indians make up around 30% of the total school population, but close to 70% for the TESOL programs. Other students are from Japan, France, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Korea.

How many Canadians study at Greystone College?

Sometimes we have one or two in each program except for TESOL with TESL Canada which is mostly all Canadians.

How many Indians study at New Delhi Greystone College?

For the TESOL programs, Indians make up around 70% of the total.

What is the average age of students?

The average age of our students is 25.
Accommodation and Location

Can you help me with accommodation?

Yes, we share the homestay services used by International Language Schools of Canada. They have been helping students since 1991. There is a section on the application form for you to fill in.

If I don’t choose homestay, can you help me find a place to live?

We do have some other accommodation options.

What is the weather like in Vancouver / Toronto / New Delhi?

Be prepared with layers of clothing. Weather in Canada changes often and sometimes without notice. That’s why Canadians talk about the weather so much – it constantly surprises us!

Toronto summers are warm, warmer than Vancouver but a bit more humid. The winters are much colder than Vancouver Toronto gets much more snow. Generally speaking, spring and summer temperatures range from 15 C (60F) to 25C (80F). During winter months, the average daytime temperature, with the exception of January, the coldest month, hovers just slightly below freezing and a snowfall of more than 10 cm (four inches) is unusual.

Vancouver summers are warm without getting too hot or humid. Usually around 23 degrees C to 30 degrees C. It starts getting warm in May usually and stays nice through to the end of September or middle of October. Fall is usually wet but mild with winter being wetter and a bit colder. It does snow in Vancouver but not much and it usually only lasts a few days. Any more than three snowfalls in one winter would be unusual for Vancouver. Spring arrives in early March usually and temperatures get warmer as the days get drier. The weather is considered very mild both in summer and winter by North American standards.

New Delhi has a hot and humid climate for most of the season. The average temperature of New Delhi during summer ranges from 25º C to 46º C. In comparison to summer, winters are short. Winter Season starts from the end of November and continues till February-March. Temperatures fall substantially down to as low as 3 to 4º C at the peak of winter.

What can I do in my free time in Vancouver / Toronto / New Delhi?

Almost anything. Canada is an adventurous country with endless opportunities to experience outdoor activities and sports. The cities of Vancouver and Toronto have world class nightlife and entertainment. New Delhi is alive and teeming with adventures around every corner. What is the difference between a college and a university program?

In Canada, colleges are career oriented which means the programs are often shorter but more intense so people can start their career sooner. Many colleges offer programs that are equivalent to first or second year of university. Greystone College is a career college.

Is my diploma from Greystone recognized in my country?

Each program is industry certified which means that your diploma will have value internationally.

How do I know this is a reputable college?

In Vancouver, colleges should be accredited by PCTIA which is a provincial government agency: Private College Training Institute Agency. What are the benefits of going to Greystone College?

Our programs are industry certified and government approved and we take an active role in providing a comfortable yet dynamic learning environment for our students.
