Program Description
The International Business Management Diploma program
prepares students to enter the world of business management
and looks at the current global business environment. Students will discuss global issues, prepare presentations, do team projects, and extend their research skills. There is a comprehensive text book for each course.
Upon successful completion of this twelve-week program, students will graduate with an
excellent understanding of the essentials of business management.

Graduates of this program are eligible for the Certificate in Supervisory Management from the
Canadian Institute of Management (CIM)

What is BCIT?

BCIT is one of Canada’s leading institutes of technology and trades training located in Vancouver. It offers programs that lead to certificates, diplomas and degrees
in technologies, business, health sciences and trades.
Course Details
Each course is four weeks (15 hours per week) in duration.
The curriculum is subject to change. The diploma program includes all six courses (three modules) and students are allowed to take individual courses and get a Certificate of Completion for the courses.
Business Communications
This course will help the student develop essential communication skills to secure a position and excel in today’s ever-changing job market. Extensive use will be made of real world examples to provide the student with models of currently acceptable communication practices. Practical assignments will be informed by current communication practices. Electronic presentation software will be introduced and used in presentations.
Organizational Behavior
This course introduces students to the concepts of organizational behavior and their application in today’s business environments. Students will develop insights into how the behavior of individuals and groups impact on the organization. Further, they will learn to apply the theories and concepts to develop effective managerial competencies in such areas as teamwork, motivation, decision-making and leadership.
Business Law
This course is designed to provide the students with an overview of Canadian Business law and an understanding of basic legal terminology. A large part of the course emphasizes contract law, since contracts are the foundation of all commercial transactions. Whenever possible, class topics and discussions will draw on examples from current news media reports on law cases. The primary objective of the course is to give a broad background
in business law as it applies to Canadian corporations.
Principles of Business Management
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the process of professional business management. Topics discussed will include: history of management trends, the role and functions of managers, business culture, strategic planning and an introduction to Organizational Behaviour.
Marketing
This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to marketing concepts and terminology. It examines the importance of marketing within organizations and society in general. Students will study the major components of a marketing plan, the marketing mix and consumer relationships. They will learn how to address the basic needs of companies in planning, developing, and managing products, distribution channels, promotion and pricing.
Human Resources Management
This course introduces theory, principles and practices of Human Resources from a managerial perspective. Topics covered include H.R. planning, recruiting, job analysis, performance management, and employee development. International issues of Human Resources Management are discussed as well.
